Share a chat link

Give customers a chat page with its own link and QR code, answered by one of your agents or a workforce. No website needed.

A share link is a chat page of its own, such as https://app.dhanurai.com/c/shr_.... Customers open it on their phone or computer and chat with one of your agents, or with a whole workforce. You don't need a website: share the link on WhatsApp, put it in your Instagram bio or Google listing, or print its QR code for your shop counter.

Every chat shows up in Tasks with the channel Share page, with its cost and any replies waiting for your approval.

You need the Owner, Admin or Builder role to set it up. Viewers can see the settings and the link but can't change them.

Before you start

  • Publish the agent or workforce. The page always uses the published version. While it is a draft or paused, the page says "This chat isn't available right now."
  • Decide how replies go out. If Reply to the customer is set to Ask first or Ask, then run after N hours, each reply waits in Tasks until someone approves it. Customers see "A teammate will reply shortly", and the reply appears on the page once it's approved, as long as they keep the page open or come back to it. For instant answers, set it to Runs freely. In a workforce, each agent's own setting applies.

Turn on the page

  1. Open the agent in Agents and scroll down the Build tab to Share link. For a workforce, open it in Workforces and select the Run tab.
  2. Turn on Turn on a chat page with its own link. Your link and QR code appear straight away.
  3. Change the page if you like:
    • Start with: A question (the default) shows the message box. Book a call first shows two buttons first. See Book a call first below.
    • Title: the heading at the top. Leave it empty to use the agent's or workforce's name.
    • Description: one short line under the title, such as "Ask about prices, stock and delivery." Up to 200 characters.
    • Greeting: the first message customers see. Leave it empty to use the welcome message.
    • Colour for the buttons and your initial.
    • Ask for contact details first. See Contact details below.
    • Let search engines list this page. See Search engines below.
  4. Check the Preview. It changes as you type.

Settings save by themselves. The section shows Saving… and then Saved.

Share it

  • Copy puts the link on your clipboard. Open shows the page in a new tab, the way customers see it.
  • Share on WhatsApp opens WhatsApp with the link ready to send to a customer, a group or your status.
  • Paste the link in your WhatsApp Business profile, Instagram or Facebook bio, Google Business Profile, email signature or bills.
  • Download PNG gives you a QR code image for WhatsApp, Word or Canva. Download SVG stays sharp at any print size, for flyers, standees and visiting cards. Customers scan it with their phone camera.

The link and QR code never change, even when you edit the settings or turn the page off and on again. You can print the QR code once and keep using it.

Under Copy the link for where you put it, each place has its own copy of your link, with a tag on the end:

Place The end of the link
LinkedIn Featured ?from=linkedin-featured
Instagram bio ?from=instagram-bio
WhatsApp status ?from=whatsapp-status
Website ?from=website

For anywhere else, type a tag of your own under Anywhere else, such as newsletter: 1 to 32 characters, using a to z, 0 to 9 and dashes. Then select Copy and paste the link in that place.

A chat that starts from a tagged link says where it came from:

  • In Tasks, the channel reads, for example, Share page, from LinkedIn Featured.
  • A lead saved from the chat, including from Ask for contact details first, shows Chat link, from LinkedIn Featured in Leads.
  • A booking from the chat shows from LinkedIn Featured on the Calendar, and the event on your Google Calendar says "Booked through your chat link, from LinkedIn Featured."
  • Analytics shows chat link enquiries by place, with the calls booked from each.

Next to each place, First opened shows the day someone first opened the link from there. The tag is only a label: it doesn't change what the agent says, and we keep nothing about the person who opened the link. Anyone can edit a link, so treat the tag as a guide, not proof.

Put your link in LinkedIn Featured. On LinkedIn, open your profile, select Add section, then Featured, then Add a link, and paste the link for LinkedIn Featured. The Get clients and book calls goal ticks this step once someone opens that link, or you can select Mark as done on the goal.

What customers see

  • Your workspace's name and its first letter at the top, then the title and description.
  • A line that says "You're chatting with an AI assistant." The greeting always says so too. If your greeting doesn't, we add "I'm agent name, an AI assistant." to it. For a workforce, that's the first agent's name, or the workforce's name when a condition picks the first agent.
  • A message box, or, with Book a call first, the buttons Book a call and Ask a question. "Powered by Dhanur AI" with links to our terms and privacy policy is at the bottom.
  • New chat at the top right, once they have chatted, to start again. This is handy on a shared phone or a tablet at your counter.

The page works on any phone or computer browser, and nobody can show it inside another website. A customer's chat is kept in their browser, so they can close the page and come back later to carry on. A chat that has had no activity for 30 days ends, and the customer starts a new one.

Book a call first

For people who read your post and want a call, set Start with to Book a call first. Customers then see the greeting and two buttons:

  • Book a call starts the chat with "I'd like to book a call." The agent offers free times from your Google Calendar, asks for the customer's name and a phone number or email, and books the time they pick, as in Book appointments.
  • Ask a question opens the message box, as usual.

The buttons show only at the start of a new chat. Tapping one doesn't use AI; the agent takes over from there. With Ask for contact details first on, the form comes after the button.

Book a call first is offered only when the published agent has Book an appointment turned on, with a Google Calendar picked under Appointments and still connected. For a workforce, at least one of its agents needs that. Otherwise the setting says what's missing. If the calendar stops working later, the page starts with the message box until you reconnect it, and the setting says so.

Contact details

Turn on Ask for contact details first to show a short form before the chat starts. Customers enter their name and, depending on Ask for, their email, their phone number, or either one.

  • For an agent with the Save a lead tool turned on, the details are saved in Leads, linked to the chat, with the note "Shared in the chat on your share page." The agent knows who it is talking to and won't ask again.
  • For a workforce, the details are saved in Leads when at least one of its agents has Save a lead in the published workforce. The lead is linked to the first such agent.
  • Otherwise, the details aren't saved in Leads. The agents still see them during the chat.

Search engines

Let search engines list this page is off by default. The page then asks search engines such as Google not to show it, so people find it only through your link or QR code.

Turn it on if you want customers to find the page when they search for your business. It can take search engines a few days or weeks to list it, and a few days to drop it after you turn the setting off.

Limits

A share page has the same limits as website chat:

  • A message can be up to 1,000 characters.
  • One chat can send up to 6 messages a minute.
  • One network can send up to 60 messages an hour, and start up to 10 new chats a day, across all website chats and share pages.
  • Each share page takes up to 500 messages a day (India time), separately from your website chat. After that, customers see "This chat is very busy today. Please try again tomorrow."

The platform's spending limits and pause switch also apply. If AI work is paused, customers see "Chat is taking a short break. Please try again in a little while." See Limits and costs.

Turn the page off

Turn off Turn on a chat page with its own link. Within a minute, the link shows "This chat isn't available right now." and open pages stop taking messages. Your settings, link and past chats stay, so you can turn it back on at any time. To stop the agent or workforce everywhere, pause it instead.

Deleting an agent removes its share page and ends every open chat. Deleting a workforce does the same for the workforce's page, and its past tasks stay in Tasks.

If something goes wrong

  • "This chat isn't available right now." The page is off, or the agent or workforce is a draft or paused. For a workforce, also check that its first agent isn't paused.
  • "A teammate will reply shortly." The reply is waiting for approval in Tasks. Approve it, and the customer sees it on the page.
  • "You're sending messages quickly. Please wait a moment and try again." The customer hit the limit of 6 messages a minute in one chat.
  • "This chat only works on its own page." Someone tried to use the page from another website. Share the link itself instead.
  • The QR code doesn't scan. Print it at least 2 cm wide, in black on white, with some white space around it. Use the SVG file for large prints.
